Perfume – love the world

love the world was Perfume’s 7th major label single. It was released July 9, 2008, sold 80,742 copies in it’s first week, 111,995 overall and reached #1 on the charts.

1. love the world

2. edge

3. love the world -original instrumental-

4. edge -extended mix-

love the world starts with some very upbeat, cute and pop-ish sounding synth and beats. The girls vocals are cute(and distorted, as always) and blend well with the instrumental. The chorus was also nice but the song didn’t necessarily have too many strong points overall. I did, however, enjoy the chorus solo sung by A~chan from 3:10 to 3:25.

Being a lot more aggressive and over six minutes long, edge sounds more like something you would have found on the group’s GAME album. The verses feature the repetition of the same infectious lyrics, both in English and Japanese. The chorus is especially strong also and my favorite part from the song.

edge -extended mix- adds two minutes and ten seconds of more length to the original. It features around 45 extra seconds of just beats and synth in total during the beginning and end along with more repetition of verses. To me, either version of edge was great.

Um, sorry to rain on your parade, but I’m pretty sure it was Kashiyuka at 3:10-3:25… Just thought I’d point that out.

Anyway, I totally agree with this review otherwise. :P

Really? O-o I just watched the PV and a live performance and A~chan got the line. D: See, now I’m all jittery about it. XD
