Tegomass – Aiaigasa

Aiaigasa was Tegomass’ 3rd single. It was released June 18, 2008, sold 90,240 copies in it’s first week, 111,738 overall and reached #1 on the charts. Aiaigasa was used as the ending theme for the anime “Neo Angelique Abyss”.

1. Aiaigasa

2. Bokura no Uta

3. Moshi mo Boku ga Pochi Dattara…

4. Boku no Cinderella

At first listen, I was really turned off by the piano organ sounding instrument found in Aiaigasa. Fortunately, it’s only present during the non-vocal parts of the song, leaving the boy’s awesome vocals backed with a relaxing and simple instrumental. The chorus is simple and catchy, managing to show off the great vocals.

Bokura no Uta proves itself worthy of being a second option if Aiaigasa wasn’t your favorite style for Tegomass to sing in. Some jazzy piano starts it off with the boys exchanging lines. The instrumentals are mid-paced and the there’s electric guitars during the instrumental break.

In Moshi mo Boku ga Pochi Dattara… we can hear the same piano organ but a lot more faint and in the background. This track is a more low tempo acoustic guitar filled song that has a well arranged chorus.

Boku no Cinderella is the most upbeat song on the single and manages to make a great mix between rock and pop with fun verses and a cute chorus.

Aiaigasa was a really great single from Tegomass, featuring very different styles of songs, all of the highest quality. The vocals were strong in this release and the only real flaw I can find in it were the organ/ “church” sounding instruments found in some of the songs.
